Coaching is a powerful partnership that helps you not only focus and realize your visions and goals but also live in closer alignment with your values and embody them so that you can become the person you want to be. With a personal coach, you will develop the tools and support to remove obstacles and facilitate the change you want to see in your behavior and your life.
A lot could be said on this. The short answer is that whilst therapy focuses on healing emotional trauma, coaches work with those who already are in good mental health to foster their growth and help them achieve more of what they want in life.
As a trauma informed coach and big believer in therapy, I will let you know if I think you would be better served by therapy at this moment in time. It may also be possible to combine therapy and coaching.
Most individual coaching is done online remotely during 50-minute weekly individual sessions. This gives the greatest flexibility for scheduling and lets you choose an environment where you feel comfortable. To create lasting change in your life, I recommend at least a three-month commitment. After the first three months we can continue on a monthly basis until you feel ready to stop. I work with most clients from 3-12 months, with the objective to foster your autonomy.
A coaching session consists in a powerful conversation between the coach and the client. I will be asking you clarifying questions and give you introspective prompts. Through a conversational and somatic approach, we will engage in creative and fun exercises and explorations to help create awareness around your recurrent patterns and behaviors and the results they create in your life, see things from a new perspective and step out of your comfort zone. We will identify obstacles in your way and develop strategies to get past them. We will set objectives and design accountability to support you to achieve them. We talk, debate, laugh, sometimes cry and whilst doing so we move forward,
Whilst we will accomplish a lot during a coaching session, most of the work will happen in your daily life between sessions as you integrate the work and learnings and take the steps to accomplish your goals and embody the values that matter to you. If you are open to it, I might even give you some “homework” to deepen the work in between sessions.
